While the varsity teams were at MT.SAC, the rest of King did not just take a day off. They went to their own home meet and demonstrated that the hosts were there to take care of business and surely as expected, they took care of business on the flat 3.0 mile layout of the Riverside City Course.

In the Junior/Senior Races, Ashlyn Richmond and Patricia Dacasin both placed in the top 20 and were in the front of the race as they fought with the leader and showed strong second half racing. In the Boys, Adrian Flores and Luke Stokes lead their boys with some aggressive racing as both placed in the top 20 as well and demonstrated strong individual performance with season PR’s. John Gathuu shows strong signs of his form as he ran a 18:42 time and made a great jump to go back to his best. Joseph Mayberry snuck his way under 20 minutes and had a great second half to secure the boys race.

In the Freshman/Sophomore races, Ava Harper ran a smart race as she placed herself in the top spots and placed 11th as she looked for a new PR on a familiar course. Savanna Martin and Audiana Salgado both ran lifetime PR’s as they both took off on the course and ran under 24! Mia Castaneda, Marikaya Williams, Evie Ruvalcaba and Caityn Brody all finished within 15 seconds off each other as they all used their teammates to push each other into impressive PR’s. Isabelle Graham, Hannah Tan and Isabella Anthony all performed great in the race as some of these girls gained lifetime PR’s as they prepared for League Finals. The girls placed 4th showing real fight and speed on their home course.

The Boys Freshman/Sophomore race put on a show as the team placed 2nd in the race and took home a good looking plaque! Brayden Lunetta led most of the race and held strong to become the runner up of the meet! Joseph Or stepped up when it counted and ran a lifetime PR as he placed 10th in the race, showing a real duo for the future with him and Lunetta. Tim Gill, Seth Robinson and Tawheedullah Shirzad all ran great races as they all pushed each other and all 3 were under 19:10 and for some of them, it was the first time running that fast! Markos Pineda and Evan Chen both ran spectacular races as Pineda ran a lifetime PR and Chen ran close. He will be looking for that PR at league finals as he was close today.

Coach Tyler Janes stated, “It was great seeing how aggressive these kids were in the races, they really stepped up and ran amazing in my book.”
